10 Most Useful Tips to Keep Yourself Alive during Revision

Exams are 2 weeks away! woohooo~

Many times, you find yourself stuck at revision, or feeling frustrated over your lack of progress of revision, right? At times, you feel worthless, distracted, useless, shit-like and can't wait to tear the books up in a shredder or to burn them at a large bonfire. I know, my dears, I know.

Hmmm... How ah?

Well, here at yetanotherhowe.blogspot.com, we are students too. To help all of us, we have gathered a list of tips via our own experience and *cough* various sites and filtered through them to extract nothing but the best for you. These top 10 tips hopefully might be able to help you fight to sleep-demon and stay constantly at the top of your game:
  1. BREAKS - Take regular, constant 5 minutes breaks every 30 to 40 mins for so. This might appear to be a waste of time for some, but it will really help you if you're doing a long run marathoner. However, take note of kind of breaks you're taking, like the "hmmm, ill go play 5 minutes of warcraft" break. I'll bet that you'll never come back. But, remember, take a break if you need one, and don't push yourself too hard. Nothing will filter thru if you do.
  2. WATER - Drink water constantly, especially while you're having your constant breaks. On one hand, you'll be fulfilling your daily water intake, on the other, you'll be making a few trips to the kitchen and the loo, which can help you to stretch a few stuff muscles.
  3. COFFEE - Try your best to avoid caffeine and opt for an apple instead. Not only apples can keep you awake, it also provides food and dietary fiber to last your stomach for some time due to its slow digestion effect. If you really have no choice but to drink some caffeine, drink it in small, frequent intakes.
  4. MOVE - Don't sit in the same position for extended amounts of time, nor get yourself too comfortable. Sitting in the same position will only get your body stiff and more tired at the end of the day, which might result in aches and sores. Getting too comfortable with pillows and stuffed toys, well, that's a straight road to la-la land.
  5. STIMULATE - Stay stimulated by constantly playing porn in front of you by whatever activities you prefer. Small amounts of fidgeting like tapping your legs, chewing gum, bobbing your head while listening to music not only helps you to stay awake, but also helps you to relax and uphold that immerse amount of pressure you're receiving.
  6. PREPARE - Run a mental preparation on what you're planning to do for today and get ready all your stuff that you'll need within arm's length. To preplan your schedule prior to starting will actually help to pace your energies and increase/decrease the amount of breaks you'll be taking. One thing you can try is to break up large, undigestable chapters into smaller ones to motivate yourself through your day.
  7. MOTIVATE - Also, believe that you're less tired than you really are. Positive thinking sets us ahead of ourselves. Constant self-motivators can really drag you on your feet from the verge of sleeping.
  8. PEERS - Studying with a peer, even if you two are studying the different subject can help a lot! Often, the presence of another person will kick up your competitive spirit and boost you through your ordeal. Also, if it's the same subject, you can think and solve questions together, after all, two brains will be better than one. Just take note that the breaks are not too frequent, and the conversations don't get carried away, and all will be fine.
  9. TRY - If you get sleepy, washing your face with cold water might keep you afloat for a while. If you've ran out of water, try pulling your earlobes. Try it! It's not like your earlobes will drop off anyway.
  10. DIETING - Constantly take care of your diet. Remember, "protein, water and fruits > carbs" and "small frequent meals > large meals". If you're gonna order KFC for lunch, eat just one piece of chicken. I'll take care of the rest for you.

Stressed lah!

And there you have it, 10 useful tips. I personally follow most of them like a bible to a Christian, but the others are tips that I've heard and tried them from time to time, with varying effect. Try your best to work hard and stay alive. We all await the moment the exams end, donch we?

Good luck peeps!
