Things you wished you had learned earier in Life.

When I was in my secondary school in Singapore, there was this subject called "Life Skills", where a student was taught moral disciplines and actions and behavior in certain situations. Well, the general consensus amongst students was that it was a crappy subject and could easily been our subject of choice of substitution for additional Physical Education lessons.

I used to thought that being the subject "Life Skills", it is all about teaching skills that you might have to exercise in life, like "How to Gamble Chua Tai Dee LIKE A PRO and Win All Your Friend's Money", or "How to Flirt with the Opposite Sex" and "10 Signs Showing She's Interested in You".

You have to admit that these are essential skills in life that all of us have once or another thought we were lacking, isn't it? Unfortunately, the Ministry Of Education wasn't that aligned with my interests at that time and decided to walk the way of a religious catholic priest.

On a more serious note, I always wondered why that some relevant professional skills like anger management and efficient time management skills were not taught in class. This would be much, much useful to the average student.

Even general stuff like, "how to handle dilemmas in life", "how to manage your finances" or even "how to start a conversation and keep it going" were much more important than explicitly stated matters like "honesty" and "courage", isn't it?

But recently I have been thinking that, maybe some of these skills are individual to all of us and up to us to pick up ourselves. Some issues, like the above are teachable, but others are simply unteachable in class and must be learn in a wider context of our daily lives.

What do you think?

Sigh... Just a couple of those things that you wished someone had taught you earlier in life.
